Good review, poorly written.

I found the Mosby's Q & A to be a great review for the board exam because it points out a lot of useful information that I wouldn't have thought to study. It was great to have the CD-rom to have immediate results on whether or not my answers were correct. However, the questions are VERY poorly written due to grammatical errors and I found it difficult at times to weed out what the question was asking. The questions are not written like the NBCOT questions will be written so keep in mind this book is only to use to get information out of and is not useful to use as a practice to see how you would do on the board exam.

Not one of my first choices for a study guide

The 2 good things about this book are that (1) the CD ROM is Mac compatible and (2) it does provide some useful information; however, I question the accuracy.

The questions are not well written, and some of the answer justifications provide conflicting and incomplete information. I've gone through about 1/4 of the questions and have even found one that I know for sure is wrong because I looked up the reference that they cited in the answer rationale.

I recommend looking at other resources before purchasing this book, if the writers cannot correct even the most basic and obvious grammatical and spelling errors, how trustworthy can they be for providing 100% accurate information.

This book is of poor quality and I was not satisfied. There are several grammatical errors due to inefficient proofreading that make the questions hard to understand. Additionally, I found several errors in the answers and justifications for them because they do no coincide with information that is presented in updated literature and textbooks from occupational therapy school. If possible, I would recommend retrieving study information from an NBCOT certified textbook.

Loads of material data; could be edited better, though

First, the good part about this book: it covers the basic aspects of materials science: physical and mechanical metallurgy, polymers, and semiconductors, to name a few. It goes beyond this with chapters on using materials in real design (for example, materials used in the Space Shuttle and in a commercial jet) and complements this with tables of material properties of metals, alloys and plastics. There're gobs of data tables. I frequently use this book when I need to get material property data such as yield strength of a particular copper alloy or the maximum-use temperature of a clay-filled phenolic resin. It's very handy in that regard.
Now for what I disliked: The level of coverage is very elementary, and the example problems reflect this. They're overly simplistic, often of the plug-and-chug variety. Because of this I got the impression several times that Dr. Mangonon really didn't know what he was writing about in a few areas. There are also typos and mistakes sprinkled throughout. For example, I made a decision in my work based on data I got from this book. The data turned out to be a typo, and I had to do some damage control. I could forgive a few typos; I mean, we're only human. But this book has more than what I'd consider to be an average amount.
The typography is inconsistent also. In some equations variables are italicized, but in many others they're not. This might seem to be a minor point, but this inconsistency becomes obvious the more you read this book. The effect to me was that the book didn't fully have that 100% professional layout look. Finally, the index is just horrible. It's very, very skimpy. If you're trying to find something using the index, God be with you, because you're going to need it.

Simon Zutshi is a financially independent, professional property investor, with over a decade of experience investing in residential property in the UK and overseas. Simon started investing in 1995, when as a first time buyer, and a recent graduate in debt, he found a strategy to purchase his first property (his home) using none of his own money. Best UK Property Investment book out there

Having read a ton of books about property development and investment over the past few months and having Homes Under The Hammer (UK TV programme) on auto record for the past year, this is the best book to get you started on your road to financial success in the UK property game. Lots of strategies and lots of sound advice. Definately worth the investment. Be prepared, it will get your little grey cells working overtime considering all the possibilities that are out there.

Once you understand the BMV concept and how you can recycle your capital investment (Momentum), you will want to get started building a portfolio right away! You'd be a fool not to - then you will be considering the other strategies to maximize your time to increase your income and equity holdings.

Great book, really easy to read, has all you need to know strategies for making millions.This book alone would teach you the secrets to investing safely, if you know how to do it safely then there's no stopping you. Everything else is just commonsense.

This is the toolbox to change your life.

Once upon a time I was a young girl, laying on my bed dreaming about the wonderful life I would have, how I could do anything I wanted, was excited for every day, determined to make a difference and passionate about life. Then I grew up, got married, had kids, lost a mother & grandparents, and my life became repetitive. I stumbled upon Traci’s website and signed up for her email’s and was inspired. Some were small tips (do something nice for someone else) some were inspirational (Helen Keller was deaf and blind- imagine what you are capable of), but each one was a small poke. So when the full book came out I was excited & couldn't wait to read it. Each chapter has sections to write in so you actually get involved in the book. It is not a quick read as it takes time to digest and reflect before moving forward, but worth it. Getting your "girl" back doesn't happen over night, and I am still working on it. But I am excited for the transformation and looking forward to it. As Traci tells us, “You deserve a great life - where you dare to dream and make your dreams come true”. Get Your Girl Back is the toolbox to make it happen. #gygb

Finding my girl

I hardly ever write reviews, but I had to make an exception for this book. Traci Bild's message really resonated with me when I read her Huffington Post story about what made her start the Get Your Girl Back movement. When I heard she had a book coming out I knew I had to have it. Traci both uses her personal story and provides the tools for self-reflection to help us all find our lost girls. It is all too easy in today’s hectic world to lose ourselves in the continuous demands of day to day life. Between work, family and the many other commitments we have made, it is no wonder that we lose track of what makes us uniquely US. I think it is such an easy thing to let life steal our girls away - I'm not going to let that happen anymore!

Very worth reading

I completely disagree with those reviewers who found this book to be poorly written or confusing. In my opinion it is neither. I found this book to be very clear and well written. This is a short book that provides many interesting insights into a period of American history that is very often neglected in most history books. If one reviewer found the book confusing it is possibly because this is a very controversial and highly confusing period of American history. This book is a good antidote for those whose knowledge of reconstruction was obtained by the distortions and bigotry of films like Birth of a Nation or from the books written by revisionist southern historians. Dr. Franklin outlines the several stages of reconstruction: the initial confederate dominated governments that passed "black" laws that introduced de facto slavery, the reaction of congress and the passage of laws which helped install state governments that contained former slaves and northern "carpetbaggers", the southern reaction to this that was dominated by groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and finally the readmission and rehabilitation of the Southern states that led to the political marginalization of the former slaves. Along the way he discusses the almost impeachment of President Andrew Johnson and the disputed election of Rutherford B. Hays. I found this extremely interesting as he shows that the oft cited reason for the Southern Democratic support for the Republican Hays was not primarily because of a deal to remove Federal troops from the three states that had not yet been rehabilitated. The Democrat Tilden had promised to remove these troops. Dr. Franklin cites studies that show that the deal by which the Southern Democrats switched their votes to Hays was motivated primarily by a deal concerning federal support for southern railways.

It's appalling that previous reviewers have denigrated this classic work by one of our counry's most distinguished historians. Born in 1915, Franklin was subject to the ugly aftermath of Reconstruction and wrote many definitive works on African-American history and the history of race relations. He has won innumerable honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and has chaired the American Historical Society, Phi Beta Kappa, the American Studies Association, the Southern Historical Association, and the President's Commission on Race (1997). Reviews that accuse him of being a poor writer or offering nothing beyond a high school history text (which would not have been written without his pioneering scholarship) only display the ignorance of the reviewers.
