Peter Willey describes the discoveries he made during the course of more than 20 expeditions to these Ismaili sites spanning the past forty years. The book is illustrated with photographs, maps and plans. As well as being a piece of original scholarship, it is also a readable personal account of the challenges encountered in expeditions to remote, inaccessible and often hazardous locations.

About the Author
Rob MacKillop is a performer, recording artist, record producer, composer and writer specializing in Scottish historical and contemporary music. He was recently awarded the prestigious Churchill Fellowship which allowed him to study Sufi oud music in Turkey and Morocco. He has recorded 6 CDs of historical Scottish music, three of which reached the Number One position in the Scottish Classical Music Chart (The Scotsman). After recording much of the historical Scottish lute and guitar music MacKillop is now performing new pieces written expecially for him by the major Scottish contemporary composers. He is Lecturer in Lute Studies and Performance at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Historical Musician in Residence at Madras College, and teaches privately in his home studio. MacKillop has also lectured on the Scottish lute and guitar at international seminars in Portugal and Germany, and as a performer has toured Japan and various European countries. His website contains essays on the lute and guitar in Scotland as well as publishing historical scores and arrangements

Good selection

I like the tunes in the book, and it is definitely helping me learn my way around the fretboard. Finger picking has been kind of intimidating to me until now, but the book is helping me grow more confident with that skill. I am taking one star off, though, because many of the tunes have been transposed out of the keys in which you would expect to see the tunes in any other book of Celtic music (specifically, the keys of D and G), or hear them at a jam session. It would be frustrating if you wanted to join in, but only knew the tune in a key that was unfamiliar to the other musicians.

The book says CD included, but all you get is the corner of the book saying, "CD included". If you don't know the Celtic songs you will have difficulty playing these songs.

If you enjoy playing the Ukulele, and Celtic music. This book is a great first step in exploring the genre.
Beautiful tunes and easy to follow tabs, even me a complete beginner was able to play these songs.

About the Author
Baradwaj Rangan is a film critic and Senior Deputy Editor at The Hindu. He won the National Award (Swarna Kamal) for Best Film Critic in 2005. His writings on cinema, music, art, books, travel and humour have been published in various magazines like Open, Tehelka, Biblio, Outlook and the Caravan. He has co-written the screenplay for the Tamil rom-com, Kadhal 2 Kalyanam. He teaches a course on cinema at the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai. Baradwaj has contributed to various anthologies, the most recent being an essay in Subramaniyapuram: The Tamil Film in English Translation. His first book, Conversations with Mani Ratnam, was published by Penguin in 2012.
