Analysis of Computer and Communication Networks presents the academic and research communities with mathematical theory and techniques necessary for analyzing and modeling high-performance global networks, such as the Internet.

The three main building blocks of high-performance networks are links, switching equipment connecting the links together, and software employed at the end nodes and intermediate switches. This work provides the basic techniques for modeling and analyzing these last two components. Hybrid tribunals are a form of the international justice where the judicial responsibility is shared between the international community and the local state where they function. These tribunals represent an important bridge between traditional international courts like the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and various local justice systems. Because hybrid tribunals are developed in response to large-scale atrocities, these courts are properly considered part of the international criminal justice system. This feature gives hybrid tribunals the accountability and legitimacy often lost in local justice systems; however, by including regional courtroom procedures and personnel, they are integrated into the local justice system in a way that allows a society to deal with its criminals on its own terms, at least in part.

This unique volume combines historical and legal analyses of these hybrid tribunals, placing them within a larger historical, political, and legal context. It will be of interest to researchers in Criminal Justice, International Studies, International Law, and related fields.

About the Author
Aaron Fichtelberg is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. He has PhD from Emory University, an MA from Depaul University, and an LLM Degree from Utrecht University. Along with this book, he is the author of Law at the Vanishing Point: A Philosophical Analysis of International Law and Crime Without Borders: An Introduction to Criminal Justice. He lives in Wilmington, Delaware with his wife and two sons.

A must for anyone wanting too know great info. on Stalin

This book talks about everything you need too know about Joseph Stalin. It speaks about his first wife, and his caring mother-Ekaterina. It also says about the negative events that transformed Joseph Djugashvili into a cold individual who went on to eliminate many people just because he wanted to have all the power, and see no one above him in the ranks. The book also has black and white pictures of his children, his Beautiful wife Ekaterina, his Mom, and the people who helped him in his Revolutionary party-Lenin, Zinoviev,and others. I recommend this book to anyone interested in knowing about Joseph Stalin-his teen years at the Tiflis Theological school, his quest to expand Communism, and have Atheist Museums. Albert Marrin does a good job as an author-everything is real clear, and direct(the reading).

A very detailed biography!

The book Stalin, by Albert Marrin, told every part of Stalin's life. Overall, the book was full of information. Throughout the book, ranging from the bringing up of Joseph Stalin, to his turning Russia into a superpower, and eventually his death and how Russia changed afterward. For a biography this book was very good. It was interesting because of the fact that there were so many important historical World War II facts told. The beginning of the book gives detail on his origin and birth.
Stalin was born on December 21, 1879, in The Causcaus Mountains. Stalin's caring mother is brought into the story, and small detail is given about her. Once he becomes older, Marrin goes into description of how Stalin rose to power and killed many people. It was amazing to learn that this man killed so many, and yet it is overshadowed still by Hitler's similar acts. Toward the end of his life, the Russian Red Army built by Stalin invades Berlin and the German army is defeated. Barrin the author makes you want to keep learning about this man of great power and influence. After his death, the story continues telling how the superpower Stalin built had faded away. After de-Stalinization in the 1960's, the city, Stalingrad is renamed and all monuments of The Man of Steel are removed. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a very vivid historical/biography.

Russia's Man of Steel.

Marrin always does a superior job of boiling down the essentials of an aspect of history. In this book, he examines Stalin and his bloody regime in Russia. In this book, Stalin is examined as a rebel, politician, leader, father, and dictator. Marrin is right when he states that in terms of body count, Stalin was far worse than Hitler. Stalin killed and starved more of his own citizens than Hitler killed in the European theater of World War II and the Holocaust.
I think this is a wonderful little book which a young person can digest easily. The subject of the book may be inhuman, but the subject matter is readily understood. There were some typos in the book (WWII started on 9/1/39, not 9/1/40). Otherwise a solid read.

They can feel, but can you reason?

If reason, facts or good sense and morals could change people’s behavior, the world would be quite different. In recent years, many sociologists conducted studies that showed that humans can hold contradictory beliefs and that are guided by ideology, religion or generally group identification. Many studies consider climate change and evolution as examples. Even educational level does not seem to have a decisive effect.

Robert Grillo deals with the same phenomenon, but one that is really the elephant in the collective room of our species. He analyzes the apparent causes and manifestations of human indifference and delusion regarding our use and abuse of farm animals.
Although the books is exhaustive in its coverage of the various issues, my favorite chapter is chapter 3 on the Foundational Fictions. In it, the author exposes the fictions regarding anthropomorphism, consent, objectification, naturalism, euphemisms, blurring the line between plants and animals, pseudonaturalism and its variants, fictions related to hunting, necessity, social justice, domestication, and so on.

Other chapters deal with animal cognition, the humane meat fictionalization, the fictionalization of animal identities and the fictionalization of the ritual of consumption.
Grillo writes in a transparent prose with clear arguments and a calm voice. He tackles head on, concisely and effectively all the rationalization, justifications, euphemisms and mythology that the purveyors of animal agriculture and scions of capitalism have instilled in our culture and in our individual psyches.

Those who come to the book with open minds will find themselves reconsidering their behavior. Those who have already acted on the well known facts of animal farming and changed their diet to avoid animal parts and extracts will find an informative, well-argued and mind stretching exposition.

Highest Praise for Farm to Fable: The Fictions of Our Animal- Consuming Culture

Robert Grillo has written an incredibly well thought out and compelling book on just how we have come to turn farmed animals into commodities for our use and how we justify it. His very clear and direct style makes for easy reading that informs and analyzes human behavior and attitudes on every page. This is a book that ought to be in the library of every vegan, animal rights activist, and seeker of truth out there; it will make it more likely that those who have the chance to read this book will self identify as all three when they are done. I will confidently hand this book to any pre-vegan who lets me know she or he is ready to learn more about the fables we tell to justify our use of the bodies and lives of others for what we do not need. This is an important book.

An inspirational book

Robert Grillo writes everything that I feel about this subject but in such an eloquent manner. Everybody should read this book especially meat eaters. I think this book would appeal to people who have kind hearts but just need a shove up the backside to see the bigger picture. Nice references to popular culture such as films like the Matrix. I can relate to this from past experiences. Love the reference to the juxtaposition of food packaging. Like Mcdonalds Happy Meals and milk cartons showing happy cows, chicks. When in actual fact we are eating dead animals.

Not a preachy book. It’s just factual and looks into our psychology to why we choose to consume and use animals in such a way.
An inspirational book because it’s not just a book suggesting that we re-think how we consume and use animals but it is a book that looks into our own psychology.

I have bought several copies of this book for friends. The book also shows that there is hope and that we will be able to one day shift our beliefs about eating and using animals.
