Good workbook, but only if you need it

I looked through many websites and stores to find a good review on this book but didn't really find a definitive answer. So I decided to buy this book anyway, hoping that it would at least aid me in my paramedic class.
Layout
This workbook works very closely with the information in the chapter. After reading the chapter it is very good in reiterating what you read and will point out to you what you may have missed. Most chapters have matching, multiple choice and fill-in-the blank answers, followed by basic case scenarios where you identify the important learning points of that chapter. Some chapters also have true/false and short answer questions and every chapter ends with either a word or crossword puzzle. In chapters where some kind of anatomy is involved, diagrams from the text are copied in the workbook with blanks you can label. Assessment techniques are also presented in the same way. The answer guide is very through in that it provides detailed answers and tells where in the textbook you can find the corresponding material.
My Analysis
This book can be very useful if you need to test yourself on what you learned in the chapter. If you have a good paramedic teacher and are in a good program, you probably will not find this useful. If you have to do a lot of self study, this book will help you test what you would have missed in the reading. The chapters in the Nancy Caroline textbook are very long, so sometimes you might find yourself glazing over important parts. I find that very few programs will actually give you assigned work in the workbook, it is usually all optional.
Conclusion
The price for this workbook is very high considering the price of the actual textbook and that the workbook does not expand your learning but rather only tests you on basic memorization and comprehension of the textbook. I would suggest purchasing it if you find yourself struggling to get through reading/understanding the textbook, or are an active learner and would want to focus on doing problems rather than just reading/highlighting the textbook.

Starts off as a great practice aid, but gets shaky...

Although it's great for the introductory chapters of the textbook, after Chapter 6 the quality of the questions, and even worse, the veracity of the answer key in the back drop dramatically. As one classmate stated after a review session for our Chapter 11 test, "This workbook is the biggest waste of $100 I've ever spent!" If you need proof that AAOS needs to improve the quality of its study tools, just check out the textbook's website at paramedic.emszone.com and try to review past Chapter 6. Unfortunately, the webmasters haven't gotten that far yet! With a little work this workbook could have been a great resource, but as it is, I wouldn't waste your money.
